Is it possible to add body fat and not lose abdominal muscles?

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Hi, im 15 years old and im very skinny, i weigh 135 lbs and i am 5′10. Over the last 3 or 4 months Ive been going to the gym 3 times a week following a strict routine mostly comprised of muscle building exercises and little to no cardio. I was wondering if i were to try to put on 10 pounds would i lose my abs. And if so are there any exercises where i could lose only the fat on my stomach.

thanks

everyone has abs but with fat on it your abs aren’t toned or cut up and unable to see.

How to get a 6 pack Fast ABS workout!! How to Lose Belly Fat!!!

Key Nutrition Strategies For Ripped Abs
A 6-pack is the hallmark of having a ripped body. No fitness or figure competitor would be caught without one. However, for those of us who didn’t win the genetic lotto when it comes to flat abs, achieving a 6-pack isn’t as simple as doing ab exercises and watching what you eat.
Instead, you need to hunker down and tweak your diet to perfection. Try these 10 strategies and soon you’ll want bathing suit season to be

1. Eat Often
This should be a no brainer but some people literally have to set their Blackberry to beep when it is time to eat. When we eat we burn calories (thermogenic effect of eating) and we end up less hungry later. Skip meals and you are setting the stage to overeat at your next meal. So, do what it takes to remember to eat often.

2. Drink Green Tea
Green tea extract when combined with caffeine, increases energy expenditure (calories burned). Studies have also shown that habitual green tea consumers are better able to maintain their weight.
Researchers have theorized that weight maintenance is easier due to increased thermogenesis and fat oxidation. Tea has a multitude of other benefits as well so you can’t go wrong with adding tea to your diet. If you prefer, try an energy drink with green tea extract and caffeine

3. Be Wary Of Sugar Free Products
How many people do you know who chew packs of sugar free gum or candies so they won’t eat? Sounds like a good idea, especially the sugar free kind. The thing is, many sugar free gums and candies have sugar alcohols in them which can cause bloating and abdominal discomfort.
In large quantities, they can also cause a laxative effect in some people. Many sugar alcohols are known by their “-ol” ending: mannitol, sorbitol, xylitol, lactitol, maltitol. Mannitol is the worst offender when it comes to gas and bloating.

4. Quit Boozing
If you are going to drink alcohol, at least drink wine and get a few antioxidants. But seriously, cut the alcohol.
Do you know anyone who has ripped abs and still drinks on a regular basis (and yes, weekly counts as regularly!)? No, you don’t, unless they are a genetic freak of nature. And, if you were a genetic freak of nature with naturally rock-hard abs, you probably wouldn’t be reading this article.

How to Lose Abdominal Fat?

Friday, March 19th, 2010

How can I lose my Pop Belly
It is about 38" and Im 14 years old. Pleae honestly. I am about 5 foot 9. I weigh about 200lbs. I also Started Weight Training. I dont know how many Sit ups to do and how many Push-ups to do? I dont kno how many Arm Curls to do as well.

since we cant choose which body parts to lose the weight off it just has to be overall weight loss.
situps alone will not help – they will only make your belly look bigger since there is gona be more muscle underneath the layer of fat.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast – they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner – repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if your trying to lose weight, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then your consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity. Get a fitness calculator that you can put on your cell phone and computer. This will allow you to easily calculate this formula, log your daily calorie consumption, and log your physical activities.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as white potatoes) and drink lots of water.

Do not try fad diets. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training For Dummies”. *4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues. A good free publication is “Dietary Guidelines For Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”.

*6) Make a life long commitment to good health. A great test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com Look at other areas where you can improve your health. For example, make improvements on the quality of the air you breath. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. How do i lose abdominal fat without losing chest, arm, back muslce?

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Basicly, im 5′8 175 and want to GAIN weight (about 5 lbs) but in muscle, but lose my abdominal fat. Problem is, to gain muscle you need to gain a little fat. Should i put on ten more pounds of muscle/fat, then start doing cardio? I take creatine and lift, but do no cardio, eat no fast food, no snack food, but take in a bit too much sugar id say from like fruit and the creatine. Basicly i mostly eat oatmeal, protein, waffles, carbs ect, and alot of fruit. PLEASE HELP!

you dont need fat to build muscle you need protein. and losing abdominal fat wont make you lose muscle either. do muliti-muscle exercises such as squats, deadlifts, cleans, and bench to build muscle and burn fat. for each pound of muscle you burn 50 calories. do a series of sprints to accelerate your fat loss to. you also need to do some ab exercises just so that when you lose the fat you have something to show

DIET vs EXERCISE Episode 1: Fat Loss Diet versus Best Cardio Workout to Burn Belly Fat

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

CLICK HERE for a FREE WORKOUT:
http://www.turbulencetraining.com

First instalment of diet vs. exercise where Craig Ballantyne and Brad Pilon show you how ineffective cardio is and just how dramatic your calorie intake can be without you knowing it.

The simple truth is; you can’t out-train a bad diet.

Today, in this contest, Craig Ballantyne is going to run on the treadmill on an incline of .5 and a speed of 10.5 mph for 3 minutes, while Brad Pilon eats pizza and drinks soda pop.

Brad is going to try to consume as many calories as he can in those 3 minutes, while Craig is going to see how many calories he can burn off in that same amount of time.

In 3 minutes, Brad consumed approximately 1000 total calories, while Craig burned only 43 calories.

Cardio loses against diet.

This just goes to show you, in diet vs. exercise, you can never out train a bad diet. It doesn’t matter how good your program is, if this is your nutrition, you’re not going to lose fat.

how to lose lower abdominal fat?

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

like the question, how can i lose my lower abdominal fat? what cardio should i do?

Unfortunately there is no scientific basis for spot reduction. You do need to eat right and exercise consistently for fat loss, you just can’t choose when and where you will lose it. And, exercising a specific area will not burn the fat off of that area or make it smaller. Your body simply doesn’t work that way.

The best thing is to follow a comprehensive program like Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle by Tom Venuto or Turbulence Training by Craig Ballantyne. You can check them out here:
