If I follow this, Will I lose my belly and leg fat by the end of the summer?

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Part 1: Running: it’s cheap, accessible, and you get quick results. No membership to the gym required, and all you need are a pair of running shoes, shorts, and a shirt. If you run around your neighborhood for 45 minutes to an hour for 5 or 6 days a week, you’ll lose abdominal fat, your thighs will shrink and become muscular, you’ll look leaner, you’ll sleep better, and you’ll be able to do other fun physical activities like hiking more easily.

Part 2: Strength training. Again, easy, accessible, cheap. No membership to the gym required. You can lift weights right in your own home. For example, take a dictionary to start, balance it on your hands while laying down, and lift up and down. Ta-da, strength training for the arms. Or, buy a set of weights from a sports store; they’re relatively inexpensive.

Part 3: Cut back on the junk food and replace it with fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products, lean meats, whole grains, etc. Your diet doesn’t have to be so strict that you end up binging on the bad stuff. Just make substitutions. Instead of ice cream, eat frozen yogurt. For your chips substitute, eat fat-free Pringles. Make sure you get enough of the good calories, and don’t skip any of the food groups! (that means no low-carb diets) Any mineral or vitamin deficiency in your diet will compromise your energy stores and your overall health. Get involved in your cooking, so you know exactly what’s going into your mouth. Look up healthy recipes on the internet. You’ll find that a lot of these healthier foods taste much better than you thought they would. (Plus, you’re spending the same amount of money on food; you’re just buying different stuff.)

Part 4: Reward yourself every now and then. It’s fine to live a little. Just make sure you’re only rewarding yourself once or twice a week.

Part 5: Stay active even on your recovery days. Take a hike with friends in the mountains. Go for a leisurely swim. Bike with a significant other. Pick up a sport hobby, like tennis.

Part 6: Keep at it and have patience. You didn’t gain the weight overnight, so you’re not going to lose it overnight. Don’t expect to lose more than 2 pounds per week. Doctors and dietitians recommend this amount; anything else is considered to be unhealthy. The combination of eating right and exercising regularly WORKS. You’ll become leaner and you’ll stay that way if you continue to eat right and exercise daily.
I’m trying to lose 15/20 pounds.

sounds typical stick to it it will work

what exercise works best for losing abdominal fat below navel after childbirth?

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

okay so i recently had a baby and i have all this extra skin and fat its gross what can i do! i want to lose weight so bad. I need your help. thanks :)

Here is how to get rid of belly fat:

First you should know that it is not possible to spot reduce fat in just one part of your body, like your belly. In order to lose belly fat you will need to lose the fat all over your body.

In short you may need to start:

1) Eating healthier, this means:

Eat smaller meals
Eat more meals a day
Don’t starve yourself
Eat more vegetables and fruit
Drink more water
Less sugars and empty calories (less soft drinks, cakes, cookies)
Switch to whole wheat versions of your bread and pasta, brown rice instead of white rice

2) Exercising:

Forget crunches, crunches work your ab muscles but they don’t burn enough calories to eliminate belly fat, if you do hundreds of crunches daily you will have great abs but you won’t see them under your belly fat.

I prefer full body exercises they burn the most calories and increase you metabolism for a few hours after your workout.

Get a training partner or if you have a lot of weight to lose consider a fitness trainer, a very worthwhile investment – of the money you save on junk food for example =)

Try also to reduce stress and get enough sleep. Both of these are related to weight gain and emotional eating.

I wish you all the best,

how do you lose fat from the abdominal area?

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

I’ve been going to the gym for over 2 years now and i consider myself in good shape but i still have a good couple of inches i can pinch. What is the best way to reduce this?

Unfortunately, it is impossible to "spot lose." Fat loss occurs systemically, meaning that you can’t control where the fat comes from. When you burn fat for energy, you will draw it from all areas of the body, and the first place you tend to put it on will be the last place it comes off. The reason everyone has those "stubborn" spots is because each of us is born with a genetic pattern of fat storage, the same way that we inherit hair color, eye color, and other physical traits.

There is only one way to lose fat in the so-called "stubborn areas," and that is with the correct combination of proper diet, aerobic exercise, abdominal training, and weight training.

Contrary to popular belief, the best way to burn the layer of flab from your midsection is not to do more abdominal exercise, but to do more cardiovascular exercise. Aerobic exercise is the real secret to burning fat.

That’s a suggestion if the ‘pinchable’ parts are really bothering you. Consider, though, that some women like a little bit of softness on their man. :D Good luck!

how do I lose fat from my abdominal region?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

I need to know how to do this quite quickly. I heard it helps to gain a 6-pack.

My AB Workout consists of 3 basic exercises. These exercises work on the 3 abdominal groups, worked out in the correct order to get maximum results.

1. Leg raises (Rectus Abdominis)
2. Side Crunches ( External/Internal Obliques)
3. Straight Crunches (Transverse Abdominis)

Here is how it works. You want to get up to where you are doing 3 sets of 25 reps for each exercise. But start with one set of 15, then 20, then 25. Then start with 2 sets of each, then finally 3 sets. Only allowing a 30 to 45 second break between sets.

1. Lie flat on a mat, with your hands placed at your lower back, close to your butt. Now with your legs bent slightly, and toes pointed away from your body, with legs together, lift your legs up 6 inches off the ground. Each rep consists of lifting your legs from 6 inches to 12 inches. You cannot put your legs on the ground till the set is done. Go between 6 inches, to 12 inches, and back. Each time you reach the 6 inch mark, count one rep. Each movement should be one second. One second up, one second down.

2. Lie with your back flat on the mat, your legs should be bent so that your feet are flat on the mat, about shoulder width apart. Your hands should not be behind your head, but place them under your opposite armpits, or chest. Now you curl up, not lifting your lower back off the mat, (these are crunches, not situps) Your rep consists of curling your right elbow towards your left knee, and then the other side. You do not touch your knee. One second up, one second, down. One second other side, one second down. A rep consists of both sides being done. So your rep is done when you have moved up, and down, on each side. (This one you will notice right away)

3. Lie the same way as in number 2 above, with the hands in the same position. Now this one you just curl straight up, hold for a second, then back down. Do not jerk yourself up, Curl yourself up. Each rep consists of one up, and one down. Each time you are on the mat with your back, counts as one rep.

NOTE: You can do abs every day. But I find if I rest one day a week, I reward myself for sticking with it.

GOOD LUCK, and enjoy your SIX PACK.
